Trepadeira lenhosa, de florescimento abundante e espetacular. Sua folhas são pequenas, lisas, levemente alongadas e brilhantes, diferenciando-a da B. spectabilis. As flores são pequenas e projetadas, de coloração amarelo creme, envolvidas por brácteas róseas. Pode ser conduzida com arbusto, arvoreta, cerca-viva e como trepadeira, enfeitando com majestade pérgolas e caramanchões de estrutura forte.
Devem ser cultivadas em solo fértil, previamente preparado com adubos químicos ou orgânicos, sempre a pleno sol. Oriunda de sul do Brasil, de característica subtropical, ela suporta muito bem o frio e às geadas, vegentando bem em áreas de altitude também. Requer podas de formação e de manutenção anuais, para estimular o florescimento e renovar parte da folhagem. Multiplica-se por sementes, alporquia e estaquia.
